The Chalice Sculpture, Cathedral Square
The Chalice sculpture is located in Cathedral Square. It is by sculptor Neil Dawson, and celebrates the new millennium and the 150th Anniversary of the founding of Christchurch and Canterbury.

It’s rather stunning, and I’ve captured it with the sun shining off it and the buildings surrounding it. I would normally photograph it with the Christchurch Cathedral in view, but the Cathedral has blue scaffolding around it at the moment due to a restoration process. Which is a bit inconvenient for photographers

Didn’t this guy do the ceiling sculpture at Woolaston Winery in Nelson?
Unlike the chess set which I remember, this wasn’t here in 2001 – I’d never have missed that!
As a fellow Kiwi (but one who lives away from NZ)…its always great to see new architecture in my homeland! Greetings from TORU? DAILY PHOTO here in Poland!
Hi Glen,
You’re a long way from home
What a stunning photo!
He also did the the piece in Civic Square in Wellington. I like this pic, its nice to have a different backdrop to the usual cathedral one, something a bit different.
