Giant Salmon Statue at Rakaia

This giant salmon statue stands 12 metres high and is located in Rakaia on State Highway 1. Rakaia is well known for its salmon and trout fishing, and is just a short drive from Christchurch (50kms south).

SOL Square

Two views of SOL Square taken from Fat Eddies’ balcony (Fat Eddies is a popular bar in Christchurch). SOL Square is on Lichfield Street and SOL stands for “South of Lichfield”. It’s an area of Christchurch’s inner city area that has really taken off in the last few years thanks to some innovative property developments. It’s also a great place to sit and watch the people go by. The two photos were taken at dusk - but I can’t recall how far apart.
