Blue Heron in Flight

This is a blue Heron that I was stalking along the estuary causeway (on the way to Sumner beach). I would creep along the road trying to get as close as possible and it would tolerate me for a bit and then fly about 40 feet away. So I would sneak up again, and get the shot in the water, and then he or she would fly off again. Quite the game!

Yes I know what it’s like stalking birds trying to get a good shot! You kind of hope no one is watching you as it can look like fairly strange behaviour lol. Great photo’s, my favourite is the top one as the heron takes flight with the reflection on the water.

    Cheers

This photo of the heron in flight is a gem. I love it. What kind of camera do you use?

      Hi Ann,

Thanks for your comment. I use a Sony A200 DSLR with a 300mm lens on it. It’s a nice and slightly cheaper alternative to Nikon or Canon.
