Lake Tekapo

This is Lake Tekapo with the Church of the Good Shepherd. I was there a few weeks back, and though this is not a Christchurch photo, it is one of my favourites so I thought I would share it with you all. This is a stunning part of the country (about 3 hours drive inland and South of Christchurch in an area called MacKenzie. That’s frost on the ground and it would have been about 3 degrees. I heard on the news that it has been as low as minus 10 celcius there in the last week. Now that’s pretty darn cold!

I was wondering what the grey colour was in the foreground. Frosty days – I can’t wait till they come round again.

Beautiful shot! I had the pleasure of visiting Lake Tekapo when I visited ten years ago. I’ve also been enjoying checking in on this webcam – http://tekapotourism.co.nz/videocam2.htm – lately, as the snow and sunrises have been stunning!

Love the photo and I appreciate it when you include shots beyond Christchurch. It’s nice to see your photograhic eye at work in other parts of NZ.
