Is man an ape or an angel?

This sculpture is on Disraeli Street opposite Odd Fellows cafe. Beside the sculpture is a quote from Benjamin Disraeli “Is man an ape or an angel? I, my lord, I am on the side of the angels.” Many of the streets around this part of Christchurch are named after famous writers. For example, Wordsworth Street turns into Shakespeare Road.

    I have to say that the sculptures and artistic renderings in NZ are definitely eye-catching!

    New Zealand sculptures can be quite confronting at times, as a Nation we are not afraid to make a statement!
