Harper Avenue is beautiful all year round, but I would have to say that it particularly excels in beauty during spring time. The blossom trees line most of the avenue around Hagley Park and it’s quite delightful to walk under them.
Harper Avenue is a busy street (though you wouldn’t know if from these well-timed car-free photos), so getting a good picture of the trees is quite a challenge. Ideally, I’d like to stand not quite in the middle of the road to get the best angle. But alas that’s just a tad bit dangerous (so I stood in the pedestrian island in the median strip).
For this shot, I was in Little Hagley Park – in a bit of a gully. So the hedge by the blossom looks a lot bigger than it really is. From the looks of this shot, you’d think I’d taken the photo in the middle of a large field, not by a busy road.
