Pine Trees

November 23, 2010

This paddock of Pine Trees is a fund raiser for a church in Heathcote. I am rather fond of Heathcote – it has quite a different feel about it to the rest of Christchurch – it’s nestled between the Port Hills and is quite rural. It’s a lovely spot to go walking around. If I hadn’t of taken this shot, I probably would never have guessed it was Christchurch – it looks like much more like an alpine village (perhaps Hanmer Springs).

Secret Garden

November 20, 2010

This private garden is off a path I use on a regular basis. I’ve tried taking photos of it before but have never really liked the results. But I’ve recently gotten myself a 50mm lens for my Sony, and have started experimenting with it. There’s a lot to be set for fixed focal length lenses – and so far (2 days in) I am very happy with mine (I got the Sony DT 50 1.8).

Of course, I can’t tell you where the garden is – or then it wouldn’t be a secret ;)
