Kakapoint Beach, South Otago

kaka-point-catlins.jpg

I’m not in Christchurch at the moment, but down in South Otago, about 5.5 hours drive south of Christchurch. This is the beach at Kakapoint which is coastal South Otago / Catlins. The Catlins as this area is called, is wind-swept, wild, and incredibly beautiful. As a child, I used to nag my mother to drive me to the beach so I could jump in the waves. I’m still a bit of a water fan, but it is Autumn now, and I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to being cold.

I’m in Tasmania, and am not afraid to admit that the water is too cold for my blood at this time of year!
