Monarch Butterflies in Woodham Park

May 19, 2016

Each year I visit the parks around Christchurch to see the magnificent sight that is thousands of Monarch butterflies clustering together in the trees. I never tire of this! And, I always get the opportunity to introduce new people to this phenomenon – usually people in the park who wonder what I’m photographing up in the trees and then when they realise they are in shock at not having ever seen it before.

Here’s a little video I also made of the butterflies and placed onto my Facebook page:

Autumn Ducklings

May 13, 2016

We’ve had a very mild Autumn with most days reaching 20-something degrees celcius. So it’s probably not surprising then that some Christchurch locals are a bit confused and think it’s Spring! These adorable ducklings were spotted in the Botanic Gardens. At one point they all got out of the pond and walked right past me!

Trees Turning on Bridle Path Road

April 17, 2016

It’s always a sure sign of Autumn once the trees on Bridle Path Road have turned to their golden colours. Always such a pretty sight.

Bird in a Blossom Tree in the City

September 2, 2015

This blossom tree in the central city by the Avon River is proving to be one of my favourite photography subjects at the moment! I didn’t realise it at the time, but I captured a little sparrow in the tree. My attention was actually on the tram in the background.
