A lovely balmy Autumn day today, so it was off to the beach we went. On the short drive to Sumner, Christchurch appeared to be an advert for outdoor living in New Zealand. There were people out sailing in the estuary, lots of people walking, skating, running or cycling down the coastal pathway, and then lots of people out surfing or boating, and the rest of us just enjoying wandering up and down the beach eating our ice creams!
Lovely day for the beach today – warm but not too hot and little wind. Unfortunately I couldn’t stay long!
The weather is still cold and there’s been a brisk wind all day long, but I ventured out to the beach at New Brighton to catch the late afternoon sun.
Not to be confused with Shag Rock at Sumner Beach, this is a Shag on a Rock at Sumner Beach! It sat there intently for at least 90 minutes (the length of my walk along the beach and ice cream consumption on the way back). It looks like the shag is watching all of the surfers.
I went to Sumner beach today and grabbed myself an ice-cream, dipped my toes in the water and went for a walk between Scarborough and Sumner. A lovely way to spend some of New Year’s Day. Hope you all have a lovely New Year too and a great 2015.
