Autumn Splendor in the Botanic Gardens

April 21, 2017

View of the Avon River from the bridge to the Botanic Gardens – watch out for low-flying ducks!

The Botanic Gardens are just stunning this time of year, and I always feel I ‘over do’ the Autumn photos – but it’s hard to stop snapping away when the light and the colours are so appealing.

This tree is now officially known as ‘Michelle’s favourite tree in the gardens’ – as I keep leading my other half on walks to this spot so I can take yet another photo of the tree.

A walk in the Botanic Gardens

The beautiful botanic gardens are a beacon of serenity and loveliness any time of the year, but surely few would argue that during Spring the gardens go to a whole other level of stunning. I’m always particularly impressed with the tulip beds.

These stunning orange tulips were very tall – I’ve captured the normal sized ones in front to give you some scale.

The tulips just before the azalea walk.

One of my favourite spots in the garden in Spring – it’s full of azaleas, bluebells, magnolias and tulips.

More blossom, because I can never get enough of it during Spring and it’s all too fleeting.dsc06631

How stunning is this tree!

One of my favourite spots in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens in the Herbaceous Border with it’s mix of colour flowers and greenery. Every year I’m amazed at how lush it becomes and how quickly everything grows.

Tulips in the Botanic Gardens

The tulips in the Botanic Gardens are stunning right now – I think the garden team there have out done themselves. This scene is right by the Peacock fountain. I hadn’t realised the couple were in the photo at the time, but now I think they really make it.
