Grymmstone Treacle is a Steampunk Store in Sydenham, and you’ll often see this copper tea pot parked out the front. This teapot is, in fact, a wonderfully re-designed mobility scooter used by the store’s owner Katrina Douglas. You can read more about it online at this Stuff article.

I was taking photos today with a friend along Colombo Street when we popped into Silk Italia, which specialises in beautiful silk clothing imported from Italy. We spent quite a bit of time having a look around and chatting with Susha the owner (who it turns out is a very talented photographer). I came home with one of the hats on display (the black one with the cream floret on it). The clothing is lovely and very romantic with lace and silk. I’ll be back in for a spring summer wardrobe I think. Silk Italia is located at 383 Colombo Street – just a short walk from The Colombo. You can find out more at their Facebook page and also buy online from their shop at http://www.silkitalia.co.nz.

I was driving along Colombo Street today towards Sydenham, when these bright panels grabbed my attention (they’re fixed onto the bridge). They are very clever, as when you move, you see it’s not just coloured strips!

And finally, a message! How clever is that!

I checked out the First Thursdays event in Sydenham this evening with its Lost in Space theme. The robot costumes were very well done. An excellent event with food trucks and market stalls and live music. There was a Robot Parade and people were encouraged to dress up – I even saw a few steampunkers there.

The food looked very good – wished I had of been hungry!
