Street Chess, Sunday Afternoon, Cathedral Square

October 7, 2007

We lost the rugby, but life in New Zealand goes on!

These oversized chess pieces are available for anyone to have a game of chess. This chess player was snapped contemplating his next move. I don’t understand chess, but judging by the number of white pieces he had, I think he was winning.

My deepest condolences (said with a smirk) on the loss to France. Eric at Paris Daily Photo sent me here, so don’t blame me!

Was there a game on? (smirk). I must have been one of the few in the country not watching the rugby, but heard on the radio the next day. It’s the older players I really feel for, as that was their last shot and will be their ‘rugby legacy’. Thankfully, it won’t be their lifelong legacy, as many of them will go on to much better and bigger things, after all it’s only a silly ball game.

By the way, is it too late for me to claim my French heritage if my ancestors (Tourelles) were chucked out in the 19th century?
